What's Poppin' for Halloween 2012

Hey everyone!

Halloween is just around the corner finally! In every Halloween season comes with new costume trends.  While doing my research, I found some GREAT Halloween costumes for women that are trending across the U.S.  Having a costume that stays right in trend is GUARANTEED to turn heads.

This year, the costume choices are based off our pop culture.  Movies, TV shows, and celebrities are some major influences in these choices.  One big trend appearing is couple costumes such as the beautiful power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z, Michelle and Obama, and Kim and Kanye.  Interesting, huh?  Well, below are more creative and innovative ideas in selecting or creating your costumes.

Remember ... Be Safe.  Have fun.  And don't take candy from strangers! ;) *Corny joke, I know lol.

Happy HALLOWEEN!!!!!

Vampire Life. 2012 was NOTORIOUS for vampires.  I mean, you got your Twilight of course, then the thrilling and peculiar season of True Blood, in which I was in LOVE with.  Even though this idea has been around for years, it is still noted as the number 1 costume choice.
Snow White and The Huntsman. Wow talk about non-traditional! So much different than the original evil Queen in the Snow White movie.  With the overall darkened twist of the movie, this costume has a new look and I'm totally diggin' it 100%.  For those who are not risk takers, the original Queen costume from Snow White are still available.

Umbrella, ella, ella, ehh ehh ehh.  Who wouldn't want to be the sexy badass Rihanna for Halloween.  With her #1 hit singles, movies, fashion sense and her memorable controversy, this triple threat made the Top costume list for 2012.  This costume is actually on Walgreens.com for $49.99. Not a bad price!

Olympic Winners.  Ah! What a cute and creative idea!  If you're going out with a group of your girls, why not go as the FAB 5 of 2012.  Wear matching leotards or sweatsuits.  Don't forget your gold medals of course! ;-)

Catwoman. Anne Hathaway did a GREAT job portraying the sexy, feisty Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.  It was a huge hit in the box office, bringing in more than $1 billion.  When creating this outfit, remember, ALL BLACK EVERYTHING! Tight black body-suit, cat ears, a black lace mask, and sexy high heeled boots. And do a red lip as well.  I suggest checking out your local lingerie stores too.

Hope this was helpful in your search for the trendiest 2012 Halloween costumes !

Be safe this Halloween and Stay Beautiful!

OOTD

June 28th: OOTD for work

It's July 1st, but I did not have time to post my OOTD for work a couple of days ago.  I got a lot of compliments from my co-workers, family, and friends about this outfit.  It was VERY hot that day and I wanted something comfortable, but super cute.  After playing around in my closet, putting together different outfits, I finally found the right one for my mood.  Lately I been putting my hair up in a high bun (1. so I stay cool in the hot weather and 2. beause it is in trend).  I wrapped my hair in a yellow headband (just so people won't see that I'm wearing a wig lol) and paired my outfit with my hot yellow pumps that I bought from the store Debs years ago.  I barely have worn them because they use to hurt my lower legs, but now since I've lost some weight, I'm able to walk in them without being in pain. The horizontal striped top is from  Charlotte Russe ($5 on clearance).  The coral pencil skirt is from Forever21 ($12).  This OOTD is flirty, fun, and feminine.

Thank you very much loves!  Stay beautiful! <3

DIY plus size bandeau!

Hello everyone! I want to talk about this new look that I created at home; my own bandeau. I've been wanting to create a chic, sexy outfit wearing a bandeau, but cannot find any in stores that fit and cover my back comfortably.  I decided to watch a bunch of Youtube videos and came across this one by my idol Miss PassionJonez (blogger, plus size fashionista, and online stylist).

Here is the link if you'd like to create your DIY bandeau. Hope y'all find it useful! I know I did:

I used my purple cheetah print long scarf from Marshalls ($12.99), paired it with my black harem pants from H&M ($14.99), a half short sleeve black jacket from Rainbow and these cute patent leather black platform shoes from Daniel Blaze ($8).  I dont have a link to their website because ... well ... they don't have a website LOL. Google their store locations though; there are a ton of them.  A simple pair of silver hoops topped the whole look I was going for.  SUCCESS! I love it!

And for those who think that big girls should cover up their midriff, go suck a fat one, 'cause there is nothing wrong with showing some tummy! I hiked up my harem pants to where I felt comfortable and damnit ... I look good =D Ladies don't feel obligated to cover up your stomach, arms, or legs; LET IT ALL HANG OUT! Lol. Feel good about it. Feel confident. Feel sexy.

Well that's all for now.  Stay tuned for more of my renditions of the hottest trends in fashion.

Stay beautiful! <3

Sexy Ombre Lip Trend

See, I told y'all I wouldn't leave y'all hanging lol. Yet another trend that I'm TOTALLY in LOVE with. Ombre lip trend. This has been picking up very quickly in magazines, media, runways, and within my circle of friends. This trend is all about adding depth and dimmension. The lip color has a shadowed effect with colors bleeding from dark to light or vice versa. The process is kind of like coloring when you're a little kid; Outlining whatever you were drawing really dark and coloring the inside lightly. Are you asking yourself, how do I get this look? Well there's a couple of ways, but this is how I did it. Here's the steps to do so...

1. Grab your favorite matte color and lip gloss (or concealer). Make sure these two colors will blend well with one another.

2. Define the top lip with the matte color, then press lips firmly together.

3. Blend the color from the top of your lip to the bottom by applying the lip gloss or concealer to the center of your lips using your finger or a thin make up brush (A lot of people use MAC #210).

I've watched many makeup tutorials regarding Ombre lips, and I finally was able to get the look! Take a peek at it below ...

Not the best picture, but hey, not bad for my first try. I definetely will be practicing some more. I used Wet 'N Wild's #528A for the contour and Zoe & Zac Naturals Pink Beach lip shimmer for the inside of my lip.

Get this; Ombre nails and hair are also in trend! I can't wait to try those as well. I'm thinking dark brown to red or purple weave. I'm not sure about the nails though. I'll keep all of you posted!

Stay beautiful!

Look Pretty in Pastels !

Spring Summer 2012 Pastel Trend Board!

Well hello there! I want to take a second to apologize for the horrible, horrible delay in keeping up with this fashion blog.  This school year has been absolutely hectic for me! But since I am back on track, I have been coming up with several new topics to cover for fashion, health, and beauty!

As you all may know pastel colors are here for Spring Summer 2012! Ah, I am in love with the colors that I keep seeing throughout several stores I shop in.  It is rather refreshing and makes me look forward to the warm weather even more! Pastels are soft, milky-like appearance, lightweight, and scream flirtaceous and girly!  These pieces are often lacey, layered, and may include some type of print.

I will be definitely buying some pastel colored garments myself. They are too cute to pass up!

Stores I recommend for this trend: Forever21, Wet Seal, Rainbow, Marshalls, and Debs.

Embrace that body baby!

Stay beautiful!

PlusSizeBarb's Comeback!

Oh my goodness! It’s been WAY too long since I have written a blog post.  My deepest apologies to you all! I’ve been so busy with school, work, homework, and my family and friends; my blogging life definitely hasn’t received my undivided attention L this will change! Pinky Promise!

Just to get y'all caught up on what's been going on. Since my last post in January, I've been on a quest to try to lose weight. Hey, hey now, before y'all start criticizing ... I am only losing weight for health purposes ONLY. I surely do not wish to lose weight for looks wise to be skinny. Skinny is for punks! Lol, just joking. But in all seriousness I want to live a more healthy lifestyle, still being a plus size woman. My ultimate goal is to lose 60-70 pounds; So far I have lost 20. Yippie!! It's been hard, but I'm doing better now. I recently started Weight Watchers Points Plus Program. I have my handy dandy calculator that helps me stay on track with my eating points per day. Hit the link I have above if any of you are interested in learning more about it.
In Febuary I tried out for my first official Boston, Massachusetts Fashion Show for a plus size agency called C'est Magnifique. It went really well and made the cut during the casting call, however, I did not get to participate in the show because my school fashion show was on the same day as this one! What a coincidence and such a dissappointment! But one of the judges did like me so much that she is going to have me in her fall and winter shows. That is the power of networking people!

In April I had my second fashion show for my school, Baystate College.  My designer Miss Kapree did a fabulous job with the dress that she had me strut my stuff in.  It was made out of muslin and chiffon fabric.  The colors were beautiful and made me stand out when I walked across the runway.  Oh, there she is. There I am strutting my voluptuous self.  Look below! Kapree also made her own jewlery to pair with the dress as well!  What an experience I may say =D

Well stay tuned for another upcoming blog (hopefully this time it won't take me another 6 months to write it) LOL. I have a million ideas and topics I want to talk about.

If you have any questions, comments, or simply just want to talk, feel free to email me crobi09@gmail.com

Find me on facebook as well Chanelle Aisha

Colorblock Trend is Back

OMG. I'm so excited for the Colorblock trend to come back! It has been around for years, however, it is here for spring and fall 2012. I'm in love with the pairing of the solid colors being shown; they compliment one another. I have read a couple magazine articles that discuss how fashionistas are driven away from the basic, boring, color black and diving into these splashes of bold colors. Here are some of the looks. Enjoy!

Monif C. Board

Monif C. Collection

Well once again I went to Margaritas last night for dinner lol and yours truly just had to try out this look. I've had this blouse for a while, but never really wore it. The bright red orange skirt is from H&M. What do you think?

Thanks everyone! Stay beautiful! - <3

OOTD-Outfit of the Day

Oh yes! The earthy Boho Chic style. It was a HUGE trend in 2011 and still is.  I wore this outfit to school the other day and got great compliments from my fellow student peers. I bought the whole outfit from Marshalls for just $30 in total! The $2.99 American Eagle fedora hat definetely topped the whole Boho style that I was going for. The shirt was $4.00 on clearance, the leggings were $6.99, and my Charles Albert bootie shoes were $19.99. That clearly all adds up to a LITTLE over $30, I know, but seeing as though I work for the company, I have that awesome discount.  ;) Ladies (and maybe gentlemen), how do you like this trend? Is it something you would try? Is it too laidback for your personality? I say give it a shot and see-you never know!

OOTN-Outfit of the Night

So last night (January 21, 2012) I went out with one of my girls to this nice Mexican resturant for drinks and appetizers (Margaritas in Medford; definetely try it sometime). I decided to go for a long sleeve top and high waisted, pleated skirt look.  The shirt is a fab color for my skin tone; it's really bold, complimenting my skin tone. Marshalls is one of the best department store chains for trendy and designer styles; this is where I bought the shirt for about $7.  The black, pleated skirt is from Old Navy. I hiked it up a little to achieve a high waisted appearance. This was about $10. I dressed it up with a belt as well. My black Anne Klein tights were again from Marshalls; they come in a pack of 3 and each have their own cute individual designs on them. They were originally $9.99, but I bought them on clearance for $5! You can't see them in the picture, but I wore my black knee high boots, bought at The Avenue for $22. As for jewlery, I wore silver hoop earrings, bracelet, and rings to compliment my outfit.  To top it off, I had my sexy Barbie necklace that I'm totally in love with! So..?? What do you think? Let me know!

Top 5 Sexiest Plus Size Models & Celebs

Who says being a size 2 is beautiful or normal? Media plays a huge role on what we perceive as "beautiful." However, it is a proven fact that the average woman in the United States is a size 14. Yes, I said it ... 14!  So who cares if you're a size 2 or 22; LOVE and EMBRACE the skin you're in! Even though the media has portrayed that "thin is in," I feel like these following 5 BBW (Big Beautiful Women) celebrities exudes sexiness, confidence, and such diva-like attitude! By the way these are not in any type of order.

Ashley Graham

Discovered at the age of 12 and signed to a professional modeling agency at age 15, this hourglass shaped model has made her mark in plus size fashion history.  She is the head model for Lane Bryant.  Her bodacious bod has caused some controversy when Lane Bryant had her do an ad on ABC channel; it was all over the news.  Ashley's body was deemed "too hot for primetime." Even with all the controversy, Ashley still continues to help young women with their self-image and self-esteem. She is in the works of coming out with a positive body image handbook for teenage females-so be on the look out!

Kate Dillon
Once a size 6, Kate Dillon fought and conquered the evil battle of anorexia and found her own beauty inside and out. From going to a size 6 to a size 8, her agency told her she needed to go to a fat spa.  She then realized that they did not care about her health or well-being. Kate then took some time off, went to therapy, and started eating healthy. She did put on weight, which then caused her to go into plus-size modeling. Miss Dillon has become a spokesperson for positive body image for females of all ages. The decision to be a full-figured model has given her the voice and ability to influence young women to believe in themselves.

Adele
Coming into the music scene at age 19, Adele's soulful voice and songs were filled with raw feeling, drive, and passion. She has made it clear several times in several TV appearances and interviews that she will never change who she is or what she looks like for Hollywood.
"I love food and hate exercise. I don’t have time to work out… I don’t want to be on the cover of Playboy of Vogue. I want to be on the cover of Rolling Stone or Q. I’m not a trend-setter… I’m a singer… I’d rather weigh a ton and make an amazing album then look like Nicole Richie and do a shit album. My aim in life is never to be skinny.” This is one of my favorite quotes of all time! Kudos to you Adele! Stand your ground and love everything about you.

Jill Scott
Jill Scott. Mother. Daughter. Singer. Actress. Poet. Overall a multi-talented individual. Recently losing 63 pounds, Jill Scott continues to show off her sexy, curvaceous body in the most tasteful ways. Her music sends inspiring messages about life and relationships that speaks to many listeners all over the world. Check out her new album recently released called "The Light." This is definitely one of her best albums she has ever created.

Mo'Nique

Last but certainly not least, is the ultimate woman of the hour ... Mo'Nique.  We all loved her playing Nicki Parker on the hit comedy show, The Parkers.  She is known for her stand up comedy acts, and recently played the mother on the movie 'Precious'. She is the woman who re-defined F.A.T (Fabulous and Thick).  Mo'Nique has become the most powerful and influential role model for us big girls everywhere! She is a woman with high spirits, great energy, and always keeps the crowd laughing.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post! There will be plenty more coming up. Stay tuned
